Mojo Monday and Sweet Stop Cards

It feels like Saturday to me. Unforunately, there are only a few more days of my vacation left, and I'm going to try to make the most of it...starting with getting my crafting area into shape. I've been running out of space. I have lots of Making Memories embellishment jars, but nowhere to put them. This morning I made a run to Michael's and got the embellishment center - at 50 percent off!! That was a deal! I can't wait to get it hung up and organize everything on it. It's going to give me so much more storage space. I'll post a picture of it when I get finished.

I have a few cards to share with you today. I'm not particuarly happy with either one. I tried making cards Tuesday and Wednesday. I made about five and hated all of them. I just don't know where my mojo was. I finally decided to give up before I "wasted" anymore paper. I actually threw one card in the trash once I got finished with it!

Anyway, back to my are two Valentine's Day cards that I made. I used the same papers on both of them. They were scraps from an old Create My Keepsake kit that I had from last January.

I used Mojo Monday Sketch 119 for this one.

I used Sweet Stop Sketch 36 for this one.

I hope everybody has a great New Year's Eve! I'm sure I'll be ringing in the New Year in my bed. LOL! I'll be back tomorrow with my New Year's post.

Exciting News!

I have some exciting news to share today. I was selected to join the Sugar Baby design team for Sweet Stop Sketches. I couldn't believe it when I got the email from Korin on Christmas Day. It just made Christmas even better! I have admired the Sweet Stop blog for awhile now and frequently use their sketches, so it is a great honor to be designing for them.

I'm also among some wonderful talent. Congratulations to the rest of the new design team members! I look forward to getting to know all of the members - new and old!

Here are the other new members:
Audrey Gonzales
Andrea Vernagus
Renata Elenbaas
Julie Masse

Stop by and wish them congratulations! :)

My first card for Sweet Stop Sketches will be Saturday, so remember to check out the site for some great inspiration from these awesome ladies!

{SSCC # 19} Happy New Year!!

Happy Sunday! Lisa has a great challenge for us this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges. We are sponsored this week by The Cutting Cafe, and Regina, the owner, was so sweet to send our design team some wonderful New Years images to use on our creations this week. I am so glad that she did, because I do not own any New Years crafty items at all! Had it not been for Regina, I would've had to get very creative. Thanks, Regina! :) She will also generously be donating three digi sets to one random winner of this week's challenge.

"Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior and my hope is in you all day long." Psalm 25:4-5

This is a wonderful scripture to focus on as we begin the New Year. If I could look to God to always show me the way instead of trying to find my own way, I might not make so many mistakes! This year, I pray that I could look to Him in everything that I do and always seek His will for my life.

The challenge this week is the make a New Year's card. Lisa is encouraging us to let all of our resolutions this year include focusing on God's word and teachings and following the path that He has laid out for us.

Here's the card I created for the challenge. The 2010 background and "Happy New Year" circle are both from The Cutting Cafe. I also followed Mojo Monday's Week 118 sketch. I did a little embossing and used my new Martha Stewart loopy border that thing!

Be sure to hop on over to the SSCC blog and see all of the inspiration from our design team.

Oh, and by the way, The Cutting Cafe has some seriously cute Valentine's stuff right now. I'm just having a hard time deciding which files I want to buy! There's too many adorable ones!

I am off this whole week, and with the exception of a dentist appointment tomorrow, I plan on doing some serious relaxation! I'm still working on my blog, so hopefully I'll get that finished up this week. Y'all bear with me.

Have a great day!

A Sweet Stop Sketch

Good morning! I am certainly enjoying my Christmas break so far. Andrew and I went to Gulfport yesterday. We went to Michael's and I got the new Martha Stewart loopy border punch. I already tried it out on some scrap paper, and I can tell I am going to have fun with this one. I also got the DCWV Farmer's Market stack for only $9.99. I have lots of girly papers, but I didn't have anything quite like that, so I'm glad I got it.
Today I'm just doing some cleaning and running errands in preparation for the big day. Hopefully I can get some more stamping done, too. Oh, and I'm also *impatiently* waiting for a delivery. I sold enough of my New Orleans Saints Christmas ornaments to buy a new camera. I've been wanting a Nikon DSLR for a very long time, and I finally got a chance to get it. After a lot of research and reading of customer reviews, I finally settled on the Nikon D3000. All of the reviews I read said that it was the best camera for a beginner, and that it was very easy to use. I also got a great deal on it with Amazon. It came with all of the accessories I need and more. The UPS website tells me that it is scheduled to arrive on Christmas Eve. It will be a perfect Christmas gift to myself! :)

I made a Christmas card last night. I needed a money holder card and this week's Sweet Stop Sketch challenge was perfect for me. I used the sketch and the challenge was to make a pocket card. I didn't take a picture of the inside, but I did put a pocket on the inside to put money in. This card measures 3.25 x 7-inches. All of the papers and embellies came in a prize package from my sweet new friend, Diane, and the stamp is from Unity Stamp Company. I've had it for awhile, but this is the first time I've used it. Thank you again, Diane, for these wonderful goodies. I've had fun playing with them.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have fun getting ready for Christmas!

Blessings to you!

{SSCC #18} Luke 1: 26-32

Happy Sunday! It's time for another challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges. Kathy Winter is our hostess this week and we are sponsored by Scrapbook News and Review Magazine. One random winner will win a three-month subscription to the magazine.

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.
Luke 1: 26-32

Kathy thought that with this being Christmas week, and everyone being so busy, a simple sketch would be best. The challenge is to create a card with this sketch:

Here is the card I created with the sketch:

These cute little penguins are a digi stamp (Kissing Penguins) from Pink Cat Studio. The sentiment, also a digi stamp, is from Kissmas Ginger by Whimsie Doodles. Believe it or not, I used a few Copics from the Taylored Expressions Spa Copic Kit for this card. Coloring with Copics was so much fun! I just have to learn to stay in the lines! :) I definitely want more Copics. I also need to learn how to blend and shade. Right now, mine are just one solid image. But, I'm still happy with the result.

It's very hard to see but I used Frosted Lace Stickles on the trim of the girl penguin's hood and on the trim and pom of the boy penguin's hat. I also used SnowTek along the bottom of the circle to make it look like snow. I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the snow for some sparkle.

By the way, I also made this card with this week's Pink Elephant challenge in mind - to make a Christmas/Winter card.

Now, hop on over to the SSCC blog and check out the awesome inspiration from our design team. I hope you'll play along in our challenge this week!

Merry Kissmas to all of you! :)

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge

I feel free least for two weeks. Yesteday was our last day of school before Christmas holidays. We had a nice BBQ luncheon and our English department exhanged gifts. I got the final gift from my Secret Santa, and of course, all secrets were revealed! I guessed my Santa right. Rachel got me a 100-piece Wilton cookie cutter set! I just love everything she got me throughout the month. Previously I got some cute notepads and a gel pen, a hot pink scarf (didn't have a pink one yet), and a Christmas bowl filled with chocolate (yum!). So, my Santa was good to me!

I got a few gifts from my students, but the one that meant the most was the one that came from one of my students who has made some huge improvements. He is a really smart boy, but at the beginning of the year, he stayed in trouble and missed school a lot. He completely turned his act around this past nine weeks, and it just amazes me at the efforts he is making to come to school and stay out of trouble. I am so proud of him! :) Every time I tell him that, he grins from ear to ear.

I'm hoping to get some crafty projects done during the holidays. But, for now, here's a card I made last night. I made this card for Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #95. I used the Spa Key Ingredients for my card, as well as the Sweet Indulgence stamp kit. I colored the image with the Spa Copic kit and used some Stickles on the bubbles.

Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure and pamper yourself during the holidays! :)

{SSCC # 17} Matthew 6:19-20

Hi there! :) My sweet design team sister, Kristine, has a new challenge for us at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges. We are sponsored this week by Simon Says Stamp. Don't be fooled by the name. Their store is much more than just stamps! They will be offering an adorable stamp set to one random winner of the challenge.

"Do not store up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." Matthew 6:19-20

Use [crafty] "treasures" on your card or other project... in other words, BLING IT UP! (ie. bling = gems, pearls, dazzling diamonds, charms.)

For my card, I used some things from the November Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients, and a new stamp from the Devoted collection by Ippity. I added some rhinestone swirls for my "blingy treasures." I do *love* bling, and I have a whole drawer in my scrappy area labeled "Bling." I think it goes without saying that I really liked this challenge!

Now, hop on over to the SSCC blog and check out all of the inspiration from our design team. We'd love to have you play along in our challenge this week! :)

{SSCC #16} 2 Chronicles 7:14

It's time for this week's challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges. The talented Ceal is our host this week and we are being sponsored by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I am in love with the digis at SNSS! They have some really cute ones, so hop over and check them out. Korin Sutherlin will be joining us later in the week as our guest designer, and I can't wait to see the awesome card she's going to have to share with us. As always, our sponsor is generously donating a stamp set to one random participant.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Everytime I read this verse, I think of our country. I think that if we as Christians would only pray more, pray harder, and pray with nothing but pure faith in our hearts, then our nation might be prospering more and more people would be led to Christ. It's so easy to get distracted by the things of this life and not pray as much as we should. I'm just as guilty as the next person, so I feel like this verse spoke to me this week. Just like the verse says, it requires us to humble ourselves, and turn everything over to trust in him to heal our land. We need to be seeking Jesus' face in everything we do.

I *love* the Casting Crowns song "What if His People Prayed." My favorite line from the song is:

And what would happen if we prayed
For those raised up to lead the way
Then maybe kids in school could pray
And unborn children see light of day

I can't say it any better than that. Those words are so true.

The challenge this week is to make a card or project using images of people (ex. children, men, women) to let someone know you are praying for them.

For my card, I used Key Ingredients from Taylored Expressions and the digi stamp is from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop. I stamped "You are in my thoughts and prayers" on the inside.

Now, hop on over to the SSCC blog and check out the inspiration from the design team. We hope you'll play along in our challenge this week!

{Card} Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

I love Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenges. I always print them out and file them, but I actually got to complete one on time this week! That's a biggie for me. This card was made using Sketch #46.

Saturday is Andrew's birthday, so I wanted to make a card for him. It's hard for me to make "guy" cards, but I hope he likes this one. I cut out the cake using my new From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge. I got it on sale at Walmart on Black Friday. It has so many wonderful functions, and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this one.

For his birthday, we plan on going to dinner and going to see "The Blind Side." We tried to see it Saturday but it was sold out. I can't wait to see it!

My personal computer got sick over the weekend. In fact, all of the bad viruses on it finally caught up with it and it needed a major overhaul. Thank God for daddies because mine was able to fix my computer. He had to clean everything off of it. Now, I just need to reload all of my files, favorites, and pics. It's a good thing I didn't lose my bookmarked list of favorite stamp stores! :)

Unfortunately, that also means that we had to take Photoshop off of my computer. That normally wouldn't be a problem, but now I can't find the disk to reload it. Uh-oh! I'm on the search! Until then, please pardon the pictures.

I hope y'all are having a great week! Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my card.
