Give Thanks

Hi there! I have some exciting news to share with you today! I am now a Creative Team Card Specialist member for the Paper Issues blog! If you haven't checked out this fun blog yet, then you need to hop on over and do that! The current challenge is to make a Thanksgiving project - card, layout, altered item...anything! Then, just link it up on the blog so that everyone can oohhh and aahhh.

I don't have any Thanksgiving stamps, but I do have the Discover Your Wings stamp set by Taylored Expressions, and I was inspired by the beautiful sponging Taylor did on a Thanksgiving card. In her post, Taylor wrote about the versatility of this set, and I totally agree...it's perfect for anything! For my card, I started with this week's sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. Karen posted it on Facebook last night, and I printed it out right away and made a card. I was proud of myself for finishing that card before she even posted it on her blog!

I stamped my flower image in brown pigment ink onto Choice Buttercream cardstock and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then, I cut it out with Circle Nestabilities and sponged Memento Tangelo and Memento Canteloupe to make a background. I layered it on a Kraft scalloped circle. I embossed the brown background with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. The papers are from BasicGrey Indian Summer. I feel like those papers are perfect for fall and Thanksgiving cards, so I've been hoarding them and only use them once a year. :) I finished my card off with a Papertrey Ink ribbon and bow, and stamped "Give Thanks" from A Year of Sweet Sentiments by Taylored Expressions onto the orange paper.

I hope you'll hop over to the Paper Issues blog to see all of the beautiful inspiration! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I'm off school/work all week for Thanksgiving, so I'm really looking forward to having some crafty-time during my break. Have a great day!
