MFT - I Simply Adore You

Do y’all know what I simply adore? MFT Stamps...especially their Dienamics! I have been wanting to participate in the MFT Stamps Monthly Guest Designer Contest for awhile now. Since I had some “hurricane days” off from school while we rode out Hurricane Isaac, I made several cards in my stamp room to pass the time while we were without power. This was one of them. Oh, I had to do the sewing after the power came back on. ;) That's true stamping right there. LOL!

This is a stamp set that I have had for quite some time, and I am glad I finally got a chance to use this sweet little Pure Innocence Being Cute is What I Do stamp set because she is a cutie-pa-tootie!! I colored her with Copic markers. My card layout is the contest sketch. The papers are from the Simple Stories Fabulous line…one of my favorites! I even paper-pieced her top with coordinating paper. I stamped the sentiment on a little white cardstock that I cut out with the MFT Oval Tab Dienamics. I embellished my card with lots of stitching, a little lace, a few rhinestones, and a felt flower that I made using the MFT Rolled Scallop Flower Dienamics.

I am so happy with how this card turned out! I love when that happens because I don’t always like the cards I make.

If you’d like to play along in the contest, too, you can check out all the details over at the MFT Forum at Split Coast Stampers.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! :)

Getting Crafty for my Classroom

Hi there!!

We have a hurricane day today, so school is closed as we prepare for Hurricane Isaac. This is a post that I've been meaning to do for a long time, so I thought today would be a good day to do it!

School has been back in session for a few weeks, and this summer I was very busy getting everything ready for my classroom. I saw some hand-painted stools online. They were very expensive. I tend to be a do-it-yourselfer. I see things and think, "I can do that." Not only do I save money, but then I have the satisfaction of having made it myself. However, I will say that after I started painting, I realized WHY they were priced so high. It's a lot of work, but it was worth it in the end.

This project cost me less than 10 dollars. I already had the stool in my classroom, and I brought it home with me over the summer to paint. I purchased some brushes, sponges, and a few bottles of acrylic paint to add to what I already had.

I used LOTS of bright colors. Since I have no artistic abilities whatsoever, I used round sponges to make polka dots. I even traced a bowl for the circle on top. Now, here's the part where I really cheated. To paint my name, I used my Cricut to cut out my name in vinyl. Then I adhered the negative part of the vinyl to the top of the stool. I painted my name and then peeled off the vinyl. I went around the edges of my name with a white paint pen. I used a few coats of a spray clear gloss varnish to protect it. I LOVE how it turned out!!

My next project was Pinterest-inspired. I made a wreath to hang on my classroom door. I purchased the letters at Hobby Lobby and painted them different colors. I used the eraser end of a pencil dipped in white paint to make the polka dots. I hot-glued the letters to the grapevine wreath. I can't wait to see it on my door!

Here's a clipboard I made. I saw the saying on a cup on Pinterest and used my Cricut to design this clipboard.

View from the doorway

I love these milk crate seats I found on Pinterest. They were easy to make, and they double as storage units!

Can you tell my classroom is BRIGHT?! The walls are a neutral color, so I try to bring in fun colors to liven it up a bit.

Okay, well please pray for us as we ride out Hurricane Isaac! Ironically, we were preparing for Hurricane Katrina seven years ago today. I know this storm isn't anywhere near that magnitude, but I am so scared of bad weather!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

My card layout today is Freshly Made Sketches #49. I used the New Beginnings stamp set by Sweet n Sassy Stamps for the sentiment and also used the coordinating New Beginning Butterfly Die Set to cut out my butterfly shapes. I embossed the white background with the Polka Dots embossing folder and embossed the black strip with the Seeing Spots embossing folder. I stitched around the edges. I cut out the butterflies with Echo Park Victoria Gardens paper. I added a rhinestone to each one to finish my card off. It's kinda clean and simple, but I really like how this card turned out!

Here is an up-close shot of my butterflies.

Challenges I Used:
Poodles Parlour - winged things
Paper Play Challenges #34 - sentiment as main image

Before I go, I just want to throw a little advertising out there. I just added some new cards to my Etsy shop. I hope you'll check it out!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you'll check out the rest of today's inspiration from the SSIC design team!

TSG On the Move Blog Hop Challenge

Hi there! It is the final day of sneak peeks for Release Week at There She Goes! I have had a great time sharing all of my cards with you this week, and I hope you enjoy this last one of the week!

Torico has created the most adorable moving set,  which we think will help to ease the pain of moving just a little! Most people do NOT like to move, and this super cute set has an image and sentiment for every occasion, whether you be the one moving, or if you are sending one to a friend or family member. With a major transition such as moving, a hand stamped greeting is JUST the thing to say goodbye, hello, or just a plain welcome to the neighborhood….and there’s a DOG!!!!

On the Move is a 6x8 set that includes a total of 22 stamps and will sell for $24.00.

I used MFT Wednesday Stamp Club #86 for my card layout. The papers are from the My Mind's Eye Tickled Pink collection. I stamped the image and colored it with Copic markers.  I stitched around all of the edges. The sentiment was stamped on a banner, and I added a crocheted flower and some twine to it. I finished my card off with a few pearls.

Would you like to win the new On the Move stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. One of the Trendsetter’s blogs (from each hop day) will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blog and a winner will be picked using a random number generator from the comments left on that Trendsetter’s Blog Hop Challenge post.

You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more you comment on the better your chances are of winning new stamps! The Blog Hop Challenges will be open until 5 PM Eastern Time Saturday, August 25th with the winner being announced during the release party chat.

TSG Donkey University Blog Hop Challenge

Hi there!! It's time for Release Week at There She Goes Clear Stamps!! You are going to LOVE what we have in store for you this week! First up is this great new set by Melyssa from Whimsie Doodles!

Our favorite new animal at There She Goes is the donkey, and this month Melyssa has found great new ways for us to dress up our donkey however we see fit. With his super cute tee shirt, and several sayings, you can send donkey to the university, or just let everyone know what a STUD he is!! We hope you love this set as much as WE do, because believe me, we are in LOVE!!

Donkey University is a 4x4 set that includes a total of 13 stamps and will sell for $10.00.

This was such a FUN stamp set to work with! I used these great, bright papers from the My Mind's Eye Fly a Kite line. The card layout is our TSG #170 Sketch Challenge. I think we have the BEST sketches! I added some silver brads, as the sketch shown. I added a scalloped border and stitched around all the edges. I colored my image with Copic markers and paper-pieced the shirt. I just had to use the "Normal is boring" sentiment for the shirt. LOL @ this sentiment!! I finished my card off with some ribbon.
